We have some exciting new updates that we launched into production recently for our standalone and integrated partners. Let’s dive right in!

Chinese characters supported in campaigns


Our platform now supports chinese characters! We have been expanding our service reach to Asia and to create a more seamless user experience. Now users can send campaigns if they include Chinese characters in the message bodies. 


Emojis icons are now supported


Emoji are now available and supported in SMS (text message) campaigns! Emoji are pictograms, logograms, ideograms and smileys used in electronic messages and web pages. They are perfect for adding a little flare to your campaigns so take our you emoji keyboard and give them a shot!


Performance enhancements on Campaign and Scratcher reporting


We made some enhancements to the campaign and scratcher reporting features so that the data is more comprehensive! As you know data is king, so our team likes to put a lot of emphasis on how we can create an analytical experience that can inspire new ideas.


Class appointments feature updated – Jonas Software users only


For our Jonas compete software users we updated the class appointments API so that the messages send out more accurately. There were some bugs experiences with that feature and now it is all settled.


Expiration date added to data Query – EZFacility and Twin Oaks users only


We added the field member expiration to the integrated query manager so that EZMessaging and Twin Oaks users can target all the memberships that are scheduled to expire soon. That way target campaigns can be done much easier on the platform level without having to do any offline spreadsheet work!

Revamp on MyLA Rewards and Check In feature


We enhanced the MyLA Rewards and Check In feature to be more smooth and seamless. Some users said that they were experiencing some wonky bugs when users checked in and we got those kinks out. 


We have also added a select queries option to the MyLA integrated rewards feature so our integrated users can have a more streamlined experience with this feature. Try it out now and let us know how your experience goes!


Custom Auto SMS time range update


When it comes to campaigning we are all about best practices. Remember there is a proper time to send campaigns to make sure that they are most effective. To support this we put a system range on the send time so any custom auto SMS campaigns don’t go out anytime outside of 6 AM – 9 PM in your time zone.


Warning pop up for needed disclaimers


Keeping your mobile program consent based just got easier! We implemented a warning pop up alert in the campaign center to alert users if they have disclaimer messages that need to be sent out. It is super important to establish this relationship between you and your mobile database and now the system will remind you if you need to do so. Teamwork makes the dreamwork.


Multi-part message option in Campaign Center


We added a multi-part option in the campaign center to give users more engagement experience insight. Now you can send longer campaigns beyond the 160 character limit and have transparency in the amount of text message that your recipients will receive. Also in the reporting section we updated this section to accurately reflect the amount of messages that the recipient receives.


QR code generate added


We have added a QR code generated to webforms so now your interactions can be consumer initiated in another creative way. A long awaited feature that a lot of users have been asking for. 


We have seen the use of QR codes adopted even more since the panemidc started. You have probably even come across them in an outdoor dining experience when your waiter or waitress said, “do you know how to access our menu?” Check out how this feature works in our systems web form creator and create one yourself!

Another year filled with opportunity on the horizon. It is almost the start of spring, the season after winter and before summer, where vegetation begins to appear. We hope 2021 is off to a great start for you and you are gaining traction on what your team is set out for. We recently spoke with a client regarding her experience with using our Textmunication’s services and she told us “It is almost more important now than it was before”. Definitely speaks on the impact that direct engagement technology like text marketing provides. Help video icon added


Our vision has always been to make SAM a self-serve platform structurally, but not in a way that is speaks here is all this long form documentation you have to spend hours looking through to get started. Our ideas have been a bit different. We always have wanted it to be a self servicing platform where you have 24/7 high quality video support. That is why we added how to videos in every section which detail feature set up and navigation. The areas we have added help video directory on is our dashboard, campaigns, autoSMS, keywords, webforms, subscribers, loyalty rewards, SAM features, media inserts, reporting and subaccounts sections. Check them out now by logging in!


Message insert _CODE added


We understand how important those alphanumeric codes can be for filling up shopping carts. Whenever I see one, I am reluctant to populate it in the promo code field to see how much I can save. Codes are great interactive elements to promotions. Now we made it easier to include in your campaigns. Just add _CODE in the specific part of your message body that you would like the promo code to be positioned. For example:


  • Hi FIRST_NAME! We have a surprise for you
  • Check out txhd.io/s/#hvx8 and use _CODE


Message credits usage alerts


We know that the times get busy and message activity can be hard to track and strategize around. Reminders are helpful and can keep up on track. Now, SAM will let you know when you are close to reaching 75% of your message limit. 


Short URL generator added


We added another shortcut to our short URL generator in SAM. We got a lot of customer insight about this one and it made a lot of sense. We want to make the campaign creation experience as seamless and connected as possible without having users navigate to additional sections for tools they need.


Default payment profile in billing panel


As you may know we added the wheel of fortune which is our self service registration and billing component to the SAM experience. We updated the billing panel in SAM to allow users to create multiple payment profiles so it is easier to switch between a specific package, a one-time charge for a specific amount of message or an unlimited subscription.


This also means that the users has control over which payment profile is the default profile for future recurring billing cycles. It’s about giving our users more control over their experience.


Multipart messaging option


In the campaign center we included a message type panel that allows you to control the amount of credits that will be used for your next campaign. We thought this would be a helpful tool for our SAM operators, especially those users who are trying to send more long form SMS campaigns. With this update users should have a more clear amount of messages that are leaving the system based on the amount of recipients in the selected group.


Data cleanse cycle updated for failed messaging attempts


Getting what you paid for is something that we always strive to angle our product and service around at Textmunication. Which is why we adjusted the data cleansing logic to remove bad numbers as usable data after two failed attempts. This is important in maintaining the integrity of our operators mobile programs. At times we faced ambiguity in reporting because of how “Bad number” is defined in the perspective of  application to person engagement. A bad number essentially means that the number is not actually activated by a network provider and could have been entered incorrectly.


Text effect on 10DLC section header

There is a big shift that is taking place starting this month. Network providers are going to discontinue the provisioning of their shared short code services and they are introducing 10DLC services to replace it. 10DLC stands for 10-digit long code. 10DLC was set out to replace shared short codes back in 2018 from our team’s research. Although all network providers needed to come to agreement on the policy change to be industry wide.


10DLC will offer the throughput benefits that shared short codes offer as well as some additional benefits with campaign reporting. 10DLC is an effort for more regulation to surround text message marketing engagement. Why? Well since shared short codes can have thousands of businesses on the same code, if there are violations and the short code is suspended it will affect all the businesses who use that shared short code services for A2P messaging. Which is why 10DLC will offer more accurate security and less disruption.

First and foremost we would like to pay a huge thanks to essential workers on the front-lines and all that are supporting. Parent account URL click reporting advanced


We have advanced the URL click reporting to make feedback more seamless. Now from the parent account of a multi-location setup, users are able to go a step further and get a full summary of engagement metrics. All you have to do is nominate a parent account and the metrics for child accounts will all be available. Reporting should be easy so you can get back to work.


Short URL creator added 


We added a short URL creator in the tools section which also features a library of all the short URLs you have created in your account. Now we added a drawer so users can access them whenever they need to.


Opt-outs reporting summaries


We have made it easier to see who has opted out of your group. Navigate to the subscriber section of SAM, select the group and that information is available amongst other important list summary information.


ASF RESTful integration prospect, members, scheduler API

We have advanced the integration we have with ASF to bring you super cool automated features for prospects and members! If you or anyone you know uses ASF let them know that Textmunication has the best SMS API for ASF payment solutions users on the market!


Create custom fields for web forms


We have given users the freedom to create custom attributes and use them in their web forms to collect more data. Segmentation in theory is target ability so let your creativity wander and see how specific data points can yield return.


Show or hide keyword opt-ins in Inbox section 


The inbox feature was a mix of all types of recipients responses, but we found that it would be easier if users had the ability to control the content in their inbox. if we gave them the ability to remove keyword opt-ins. Now you can filter out keyword opt-ins so users don’t confuse that info with actual dialogue.


Offers campaign type added


Welcome the new campaign type called offers! Again, offers allow you to add a rich component to your text message marketing experience so you can welcome your recipients to a campaign using an interactive URL that gives you the ability to add an offer expiration date as well as additional copy. Oh yeah, we also added a “add offer url to message body” shortcut so you do not have to leave your campaign to find the SAM generated short URL.

By popular demand we just had to add this directory, but let it be known that the maximum file size for an upload is 20MB in any section of SAM.

The goal has always been the same. We have deployed a change that makes keyword based promotional offers even easier. While creating keywords our users can now select the number of days that a keyword offer will be valid. Try creating your own and checking it out.

2. Custom Reporting Updates

We have given our users the ability to customize the disclaimer message function that goes out to new subscribers.

We have added a custom auto SMS creator for our users. Now they can create custom Auto SMS alerts based on the criteria that is set up in our queries generator. Create a custom Auto SMS alerts that goes to a specific gender, membership type, specific age range, last check-in time, city, state and more! This feature should advance your segmentation

Text Talk September: Software Enhancements and Fitness Industry Reopening Update

Textmunication’s marketing team here again to bring you Text Talk, Textmunication’s monthly newsletter that brings you the latest pulsation on software enhancements, company updates, trends and industry insight for September. Text Talk is about sharing information that will support your go to marketing strategies around the SMS and RCS medium.

To begin, we would like to zoom out a bit. In California we have been in a mandatory stay-at-home order since March 19, 2020, so it has been around six and half months. Time sure does fly and we hope that your company is finding your growth strategy and using the right communication channels to do so (psst SMS work). From coast to coast Textmunication would like wish you good will and resilience in these times.

1. Wheel of fortune

We made it even easier to get started with Textmunication and go direct with your engagement. Now you can sign up on your own! Just navigate to our registration link, fill out your contact information and you will have access to your very own SAM account.

By default your initial activation will be set to a trial subscription, where you will receive 25 messages credits and a temporary long code. Although if you plan to hit the ground running and want to increase your messaging capabilities you just have to select a plan, then set up billing on a pay per use or monthly recurring basis. Once payment information is verified, your account will be fully active! Then you will have the choice to select whether you want to use a short or long code. We also made changing your plan a user-side control so you can upgrade, downgrade or even cancel whenever you want. The power is all yours!

2. Reporting an issue

We have updated the ability for our users to report an issue and send it directly to our technical support team. It is visible on the user-interface wherever you are located in the application. We understand that the software lifecycle is changing and modern consumers expect to have a direct line of communication between them and us, the product creators. That is why we have taken further steps to make this transaction smoother so we can gather more accurate feedback on usage and experience. Hope this helps.

3. Constituents codes added to queries

Now constituents codes in Blackbaud will be available and added as a filter option in the queries generator. As our software partners over at Blackbaud put it “Constituent codes define the high-level affiliations constituents have with your organization— such as Board member, Vendor, or Volunteer — and help you to understand why they’re in your database.” You can read more about constituent codes here.

4. Custom Queries to Auto SMS

For integrated accounts if you have a specific data segment to target you can now create those queries and set up Automated SMS alerts to go out on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly frequencies.

5. ASF RESTful Integration complete

Great news! We have just completed our RESTful API with ASF Payment Solutions and have pushed the updates into production. Now ASF Payment Solutions software users can leverage Textmunication’s Automated SMS solutions for prospect and member engagement.

ASF have been committed as a technology pioneer in the health and fitness industry since 1972 and make it so owners have more time to focus on building a stronger community for their members, helping them face the future of fitness.

The pandemic has reshaped the public perception on which businesses are essential and which ones are not. Gyms, health clubs and fitness centers were a commercial segment that was considered unsafe because of the population density. Although for the past few months, health and fitness industry advocates have voiced their concern about this, not only because of the economic impact, but because of the impact the absence of gyms will have on the community. Health, fitness and wellness for a lot of consumers starts at their gyms and the argument is that there is no supplement for that and that science is presenting a silver lining. Based on data drawn from over 2,00 gyms in the nation, the virus-to-visit ration is at 0.002% (npr). Supportive figures like this are motivating other business owners to tackle to pandemic driven perception and reopening under coronavirus control measures which include:
